Anyone for Tennis and Strawberry Face Masks?

The tennis and strawberry season that typifies an English Summer is in full swing and what better way to enjoy it with a glass of Pimm’s and a bowl of strawberries with feet up, watching Andy Murray win Wimbledon!

Eating strawberries throughout the summer is an easy way to add to your 5 a day and with a dash of cream, means your body receives a good dose of vitamin C, minerals and calcium.

Bu did you know that strawberries are fantastic for the skin also? Strawberries contain high levels of vitamin C which helps lighten and brighten summer skin along with Salicylic acid which is a natural exfoliant that gently removes dry, dead skin cells, helps to unclog pores and regulates oil production.

So, if you have eaten too many strawberries and have a few left over, here are some fabulous, holistic, chemical free, yummy recipes for strawberry skincare;

ALWAYS PATCH TEST FIRST, THESE ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN OR IF YOU SUFFER FROM ALLERY TO STRAWBERRIES.

Dead Skin Strawberry Melt   –   Suitable for dry, oily, blemished or acne prone skin.

  1. Simply mash 3-4 large strawberries and apply to your face, avoiding the eye area or any areas of sunburnt or broken skin.
  2. Leave for up to 5 minutes, depending on sensitivity, rinse and remove.

Summer Strawberry Quench– Suitable for dry and sun damaged skin.strawberry-face-mask

  1. Mash 3- 4 large strawberries in a bowl.
  2. Add 1 tbsp. of cream.
  3. Add 1 tbsp. of honey.
  4. Mix until creamy.

Honey is a mild anti-bacterial ingredient with super hydrating, humectant properties whilst the vitamin C brightens and the cream softens and exfoliates.

Zingy Strawberry Face Scrub. – Suitable for dry, dehydrated and sun damaged skin.

  1. Mash 3- 4 large strawberries in a bowl.
  2. 1 tbsp. Olive Oil.
  3. Few drops of lemon.
  4. Tbsp. brown sugar.

Mix and apply, massaging gently in small circular motions. Rinse.

Gardeners Hand and Foot Scrub– suitable for all skin types.

  1. Mash 3- 4 large strawberries in a bowl.
  2. 1 tbsp. Olive Oil.
  3. Few drops of lemon.
  4. Tbsp. Of sea salt.

Soak hands and feet for ten minutes in a bowl of warm water with a few slices of lemon and strawberries.  Remove and scrub each foot vigorously for a few minutes, rinse and re-soak. For hands rub scrub together thoroughly with your hands and you can even use on knees and elbows.
